Scott E-Sub Active Cross bar

Description

Scott’s Great Value Touring E-bike – Price Reduced by 15%.

Last one remaining – in small – suitable for someone from about 5’3 ” to 5’9″.

A comfortable touring bike from Scott, with the Bosch Activeline motor a step through frame and the battery in the centre of the bike that is not going to break the bank.

Bosch Drive System

The bike is equipped with the newest of the Bosch motors – the Activeline. This is lighter than its predecessors but still produces plenty of power. The support level ranges from 40% added support level on Eco setting, up to 250% on the Turbo setting. For those familiar with the Bosch motors this one has a normal size front chain ring. This means that the motor is not going through another gear and as a result there is less resistance. It means that if you are riding the bike without assistance it is just like riding a normal bike – so ideal for those who want some assistance but may also turn off the motor from time to time.

The battery is a 400 watt hour battery. This has a range of upto about 70 miles. That’s riding in eco on reasonably flat roads. Riding in a variety of assistance levels with plenty of up and down most riders should get 40 miles from the battery.

Non-Electric Parts

The E-Sub Active 20 features the Shimano Acera 9 speed gears. 9 gears are plenty when you have a motor. It has shimano hydraulic disc brakes and a Suntour front suspension fork. Additional comfort comes from the puncture resistant tyres which are quite wide for this type of bike (50c). We really like these tyres as they are more secure on the road and really do make a difference to the comfort. Any effect on drag (rolling resistance) is negligible because of the motor.

Because of its step through frame the bike is easy to hop on and off and the battery in the middle makes the bike well balanced.

Of course it comes equipped with mudguards, a rack and good lights (Axa blue Line) that run off the battery. There is also a frame lock (cafe lock)  which locks the rear wheel and can be used when the bike is still in sight.

In Summary

As well as being great to look at, this bike is a real work horse and comfortable bike that will take a lot of the strain out of those longer rides, especially when you are weighed down with luggage. This is great value now at just £1825.
