Moustache All Rounder
Probably the most versatile bike in Moustache’s offering. The bike is equally comfortable in the country, on wooded tracks or in the city. This is the step through version making it even more adaptable. The bike can be used for touring, commuting or simply riding at leisure.
This bike is the ‘Open Frame’ version. It is also available with a higher cross bar but of course this one is easier to get on and off.
Bosch Drive Unit
Compared to last year’s model the motor has been upgraded to the Bosch Performanceline. The Bosch motor allows for 4 different levels of assistance and although there are other motors out there we still think that with their experience and expertise Bosch are still the best.
The battery is the Bosch 400 watt hour battery – masses of range – up to about 70 miles depending on the level of assistance that you select. Realistically, assuming that you use all the levels of assistance and riding up and down hill, you should expect to get a range of abut 40 miles.
All Purpose Components
The versatility comes from the great combination of the tyres, the light frame, front suspension, integrated mudguards, rack and lights that run off the battery. The tyres are 2.1 inches across. That’s a bit narrower than standard mountain bike tyres (about 2.35 ins) but nobbly so it will cope well with mud.
The bike is comfortable with a nice Selle Royal Wave ergonomic saddle and the suspension forks are enough to take bumps out of the tracks – or indeed the roads. The travel on the forks is 80 mm.
The rack is compatible with child seats and has been configured to be compatible with Ortlieb panniers. This is a great system allowing panniers to be put on or removed from the bike in one simple action.
It comes with Moustache’s own rims and their own aluminium mudguards. The lights are of a good standard, powered from the battery and giving you good visibility without taking too much power. It also has a sturdy kick stand.
A frame lock can be added as an optional extra.
What makes the Moustache bikes stand out is the thought that goes into the detail. At Moustache they start with a clean slate and no pre-conceived assumptions. This means that the end product is unique and designed specifically for a purpose with no compromises. The mudguards for example are Moustache’s own innovation because they were not happy with the off the shelf products that are available. The slightly swept back handle bars are another innovation, which is where the name comes from.
We love the Moustache bikes and if versatility and comfort are what you are looking for at a very reasonable price then this is a great bike for you to consider.
We normally carry this bike in Small and Medium sizes. We can also order the Large and Medium.
The warranty is for 5 years on the frame and 2 years for the motor, battery and display.
