Scott E Scale 720

Scott’s hardtail with invisible battery

Featuring Bosch’s revolutionary PowerTube, completely integrating the battery into the frame, the Scott E Scale 720 is a glimpse into the future of electric bikes that’s built on the proven successes of its predecessors. This is a package that’s ideal for the rider that’s looking for a smooth, comfortable riding companion for off road trails and races, with components that are as exciting as they are reliable.

Bosch PowerTube

The Bosch PowerTube is the latest development into battery integration, entirely hiding the battery within the frame of the bike, rendering it almost completely invisible. Weighing in at just 2.8kg it is one of the lightest batteries on the market, further reducing its impact on the overall feel of the bike. Its light weight, low position and minimal use of space dramatically improves the balance of the bike. Despite it’s modest design, it still packs incredible power – the 500Wh on offer should be more than enough to power you through even the most demanding of rides. The battery is easy to remove and insert, popping out of the frame by a couple of centimetres when unlocked to assist in easy removal without risk of dropping. Battery integration is something we are seeing being increasingly pursued by multiple manufacturers, and the PowerTube has kicked this race into the next gear.

Bosch PerformanceLine CX

Proving the compatibility of the PowerTube with every motor on Bosch’s line, the PerformanceLine CX is Bosch’s most demanding motor, built for the most demanding trails. Packing an astonishing amount of power into its body, the PerformanceLine CX provides a maximum torque of 75Nm, flattening even the sharpest inclines. A maximum assistance level of 300% is accessed via the motors turbo mode, which responds with lightning fast precision to your own input on the pedals, so that enormous power is always firmly under your control. Uphill starts can be achieved with minimal fuss, as the motor instantly kicks in as soon as you apply pressure. The eMTB mode allows you to completely focus on riding without the added fuss of changing assistance level, as this is automatically done for you, keeping your mind and focus on enjoying the ride.

Frame Components

Suspension is provided by RockShox Judy Silver forks, a favourite in the RockShox line that provides 120mm of travel to absorb the most violent bumps and changes in elevation. The Shimano Hydraulic disc brakes provide safe, unparalleled control with 180mm discs, so you can ride with confidence. Finally, the Syncros dropper seatpost can be adjusted easily on the go, so you can quickly customise your seated position to match any ascent or descent, so every step of your ride is as enjoyable as the last.

This is an excellent showcase for the PowerTube 500, matching it to the technological marvel of the PerformanceLine CX, on a frame designed to squeeze every second of enjoyment on any offroad trail you’d care to try.
