KTM Force 272 – 2017

KTM High Value Electric Hardtail

The Macina Force 272 ticks all the boxes for those looking for a bike that will go anywhere, have good endurance, looks good and not cost a fortune. This is our last one and is only available in large (21″).

Drive System

First and most importantly it comes with Bosch’s Performance line CX motor. This is the latest motor from Bosch offering the most torque – up to 75 newton metres. Bosch motors give you assistance in proportion to the force that you put on the pedals. There are 4 levels to choose from, ranging from Eco up to Turbo, enabling you to climb even the steepest of hills even if your fitness is not what it once was.  In the highest level of assistance you will receive 300% of your input. If you don’t need this much help, then in Eco the assistance level is 50%.

The battery is 500 watt hours. This is the largest of the tube-mounted batteries and gives a range of up to about 100 miles.

Suspension

Compared to its slightly cheaper brother (the Macina Force 273) the 272 has better front suspension (Rockshox as opposed to Suntour) and a larger choice of gears – 10 as opposed to 9.

This bike and the Macina Force 273 are very similar and are both great bikes with the same motor. If you are not too constrained by budget, then we would recommend this bike for the following main reasons:

  1. The bigger battery – 25% more range.
  2. More gears and a slicker shifter – Deore.
  3. The better front suspension.
