About Electric Bikes Guildford

Lady on a Gazelle Electric Bike

Electric Bikes Guildford (EBG) was initiated by the owners Chris and Annie Ogle in 2014 and the shop was opened in January 27 2015.

Chris has spent a career in finance  but always wanted to have his own business. He believes that electric bikes are on the cusp of a revolution, enabling more people to cycle so that we can clean up our roads, the air quality and get fit in the process.

Chris and Annie are both keen bike riders, riding road and off road bikes whenever they can. Chris came to cycling from running, having competed for Belgrave Harriers and Surrey at 800 metres and 1500 metres. Annie has been a personal trainer for 17 years and knows pretty much all there is to know about fitness. She is also a very good cyclist with a number of records to her name in the Surrey hills and beyond.

We have been running the shop now for over two years. We have expanded our range of bikes and having started with just 12 bikes in the shop we now have stock of about 50 bikes ranging from full suspenion mountain bikes, to hybrids, Dutch bikes (Gazelles) and folding bikes.

The shop is open 6 days a week, with no appointment required. We will explain to you the benefits of electric bikes, if you are still undecided and we will help you choose the right bike for you. We are very low key. There is no time pressure and please ask as many questions as you want. You can try the bike out in the car park behind the shop, or in the surrounding roads and we will take you for a spin if you would like to go further.  If you want the bikes delivered we can do this. We do this personally in our zero-emission electric van and do not charge within a 15 mile radius from the shop. We make sure that you are happy with all the controls etc before we leave you. We will then do an initial service for free after 6 to 8 weeks.

We also hire bikes, so you can try before you buy. Hire rates are from £30 per day and if you buy the bike we will deduct the hire cost from the price of the bike.

We service the bikes and in the unlikely event of problems we will get things rectified. We offer a very personal service and we are proud of the comments that we have received from our customers.

Chris is one of the founder members of the revitalised bike users Group in Guildford (G-Bug). We are very aware that in order to encourage more cycling we need to have safer roads. G-Bug is campaigning to have proper cycle ways so that we can all get around safely. You can find out more about G-Bug by clicking here.

Riding an electric bike does not mean that you are taking no exercise;they're a great way for people who would love to cycle but their fitness or health is holding them back, and for cycling veterans they can experience longer and faster rides as well as extend their years of cycling. For all the obvious benefits to the planet and to our own well-being we strongly believe in cycling as a form of transport, as well as a great way to keep fit and have fun!
